The story

The Owner likes two different architectural styles – Constructivism and Nordic Modern. The villa is purely constructivist, and we have decided to add some architectural elements and details to create a link to another iconic architectural style – Nordic Modern. Those elements are granite pieces carved by a noble sculptor – Alexander Pozin. Inside the villa, the heart is a 6 tons hearth – a wild, ancient – pale otic fireplace. Made of self-bearing granite rocks with no any single fixing elements between them – these 2 meters tall and 3 meter long structure rests on its own foundations and has a firebox, which can host a huge man inside. It is inserted in a very clean and simple volume of the 200m2 living space – making a fantastic contrast – the contrast is so dramatic, unexpected and unheard that all this together looks amazing.

In 2024 another artist from our team designed a biofuel insert for this hearth – a metal reveals of the stone structure of the fireplace. Now the owner can use both – wood and biofuel, which make the idea even more complex and interesting – in the winter time, when a true wooden fire place atmosphere is needed – you can burn huge almost 1 meter long logs there. While in the summer, when only a “design fire” is needed to support atmosphere – biofuel is an ideal solution.
